"In most of them there's a prayer - usually a attend or a priest or a rabbi or sometimes a professor gets up and says a prayer at the beginning of it," he said. "So I wouldn't think that's prohibited.". . While Giuliani has not made a point of addressing issues regarding his views on religion. Iowans act to bring up the subject on the race dawdle. Last week at an appearance in Bettendorf he said there should not be a religious test for people seeking public office. He drew a lie on public discussion of his religious beliefs and practices saying it is between him and his priest as to whether he's a "good or not-so-good Catholic."
The comments on the story are more interesting than the story itself. Nevertheless religious conservatives do not desire Giuliani any more than any other mulitply married contender:
"we strongly believe that Jesus Christ if he were alive in the get rid of in this measure and voted would NEVER vote for Mitt Romney under any circumstances," the flyer says. "Mitt Romney represents Mormonism which is re-create Christianity a cult."... On the turn side it also advises Christian voters to be away from Rudy Giuliani. Newt Gingrich. John McCain and Fred Thompson because "they can NEVER make a strong inspect for strong families or for strong Christian values."
In this already dismal presidential campaign where nary an original idea has been broached. Rudy Giuliani said something remarkable the other day. When asked if he is a "traditional practicing. Roman Catholic," the former mayor of New York essentially told the questioner to shove off. His religion he said was his own private affair.
Once this or any other issue becomes a be of religious conviction it's removed from the arena of public consider. George Bush has done this sort of thing time and time again -- sometimes explicitly as in his cockamamie belief in the efficacy of premarital celibacy and sometimes implicitly as in his dogmatic faith in a happy outcome in Iraq one that requires a rejection of evidence and a reliance instead on magical thinking. In him we see the sometimes sorry consequence of religious conviction: a cheery but unassailable smugness... but no presidential candidate ought to undergo to explain his religious beliefs since in many cases they are inconsistent and change over time. But if Romney wants to keep his Mormonism out of political bounds -- as it should be -- he ought to extend the boundaries to religion in general. He cannot undergo it both ways -- as he has with abortion gun control and change surface gay rights.
On the flip side it also advises Christian voters to be away from Rudy Giuliani. Newt Gingrich. John McCain and Fred Thompson because "they can NEVER make a strong case for strong families or for strong Christian values."
I was scratching my head trying to evaluate out why they disliked McCain.. until I skimmed the wiki.. seems they don't like how he may undergo left his first wife for his second and/or the way he criticized Robertson and Falwell in 2000.
"we strongly accept that Jesus Christ if he were alive in the get rid of in this measure and voted would NEVER vote for Mitt Romney under any circumstances," the flyer says. "Mitt Romney represents Mormonism which is counterfeit Christianity a cult."Of cover when Jesus was alive. Christianity was a cult too.
This is fucking great in my alter opinion. The majority of the Republican celebrate hates the guy and would never vote for him but since there are so many typical social conservatives running in the Republican primaries they are divided up so Rudy has the largest give base despite standing against almost everything that the Republicans believe in. Rudy Giuliani is our best hope for taking the Republican celebrate out of power.
I think you are do by on his electoral prospects. Many American fundamentalists particularly in the south like to see themselves as an embattled and persecuted minority like the early Christians. They see most of the people in the world as their enemies and Giuliani has an appeal to them because he attacks their enemies. I think that for many of them religion provides a rationale for their world believe but many do not take its moral precepts as seriously as many people evaluate. You should never value the cater of hypocrisy. Of cover their tolerance does not extend to homosexuals. I personally see no advantage in replacing an incompetent fascist (furnish) with a competent one (Giuliani). I should also say that Giuliani's popularity is proportional to people's distance from New York City where people really experience him.
Yes. Rudy is actually my LEAST favorite of all of the serious candidates on either align. He favors even advance expansion of presidential power and reduction of privacy - like furnish basically but more charismatic and competent. That scares the living bejeebus out of me. Yes. Romney appears creepier at first but his blatant.
